Action

Action

Every now and then I like to do some sort of writing exercise. One that I did in the past was to write a couple hundred words outside of the genre I normally write in. So I chose action/thriller. Not only because it’s different from erotica and romance, but because one of these days I’m going to tackle an erotic thriller. Click on MORE (actually I see it says LINK. If I knew how to fix it I would. LOL) for the short intro…and let me know what you think.

Amanda looked straight into Steve’s blue eyes and smiled. His time had come.
After tracking him all over the country, from Halifax to Vancouver, I’d finally caught up to him on the ferry to Seattle.
“You can’t run anymore Steve.” Confidence made my voice strong.
“Who’s going to stop me? You?” His lips split into a cocky grin, the vivid red scar bisecting his cheek shifting grotesquely.
I considered him carefully before I answered. He was an extremely intelligent guy, unfortunately, most psychopaths were. But Steve had one big weakness, and I was the only one that could exploit it. “You think I can’t?”
His laugh echoed in the hollow passageway. “You’re a woman. You’re not strong enough to stop me.”
“But I’m smart enough to be on this ferry with you when half the country is still searching the mountains thinking you’re hiding in some cabin somewhere.”
“Being on this ferry with me doesn’t make you smart.” He started towards me in slow deliberate steps. His eyes gleaming with an unholy light as he reached behind his back and withdrew the big hunting knife I knew he was never without. “In fact, it just proves how stupid you really are.”

Be honest now, should I give up the idea of ever writing a thriller?

  1. I’m intrigued. She’s been tracking him a long time, why? Others are tracking him, why? What’s his exploitable weakness? And why is his gaze unholy? Is there a bit of the supernatural at play here? You’ve drawn me in…
