For those of you who are waiting on books and prizes from me, I’m sorry to say it will be another day, maybe 2, before I get to the post office. You see, I thought there was a lot of snow last week. Yeah, I should’ve known not to anticipate, because we had a big blizzard last night, and it’s freakin’ freezing outside right now.
When I woke up and saw that all the windows on the south side of my place were solid ice, I knew it had been a bad one. But when I looked out the west window and saw sidewalks shoveled and my car barely covered in snow I thought. “Not too bad.”
But those frosty windows kept nagging at me as I prepared to head out. So I turned on the TV to check the temperature. – 32 C! (That’s -25 F for you Americans) UHmm No, I’m not going to the post office today. π
Besides, I didn’t plug my car in last night so it won’t start. I will go out and plug it in now, so I can try to go out tomorrow.
It’s -33 here, so I’m not going out either! Here’s to a cozy relaxing day indoors π
I agree. *passes Allison a cup of hot chocolate* And the thought of the wind chill is terrifying.
Oh my! Keep warm! Read some of your own writing π
Are you telling me that a little cold weather turns you into a wimp! π
LOL@ Saskia. Nah, I’m writing some though!
Yes, Susan. I’m saying I’m not going out unless I have to.
I’m with Sasha. It’s freakin’ COLD. It’s so cold here that I’m wearing two pairs of socks, slippers, a sweater, sweat pants and my robe inside my house with the heat cranked up.
We’ve had a fairly mil winter in VA this year…except for last week when we got 6 inches of snow and hovered between 18 and 32 degrees the entire week.
Oh, and did I mention this was the week I needed to move?!
Keep warm Sasha. π
And I thought it was cold here in the 20s. I’ll quit whining! Stay warm, Sasha.
Vivi, I saw on the news that the windchill brought the temp as low as -57 C at one point!! Right now it’s holding at (with winchill) -43. ANd Calgary is only a couple degrees warmer. π
Moving in the cold is no fun at all, Samantha. Aren’t you glad it’s over and done with?
Charli, I’m sure it’s all relative to what you’re used too. Unfortunately, it gets this cold a couple of times a year for us. Not sure I’ll ever get used to it though. I just get smarter, and stay home LOL
You have an electric car??! π―
Raine, I’m so not sure how to answer you. Are you serious, or are you mocking me?
I’m going to assume you’re serious. LOL
No, I don’t have an electric car. What I (an all Canadians) do have is what’s called a block heater under the hood of my car. The heater sits next to the engine block and has a cord that hangs out front by the radiator. When it’s really cold, we plug that in, and the heater keeps the engine from freezing, because the car won’t start when the engine is frozen.
And if you were mocking me…I just totally made an ass of myself. π³
Oh geez, Sasha–no, I would never mock you!
There are such things as electric cars…aren’t there? π―
No, I’d never heard of a block heater. My bad.
Sorry, I’m very un-traveled! π
Sasha…stay warm, girlie!!
Hope you’re able to get some of your writing done between the chattering teeth. You know, on our new diesels we’re now putting this…thingey, lol, for lack of a better word, that insulates the radiator…it’s supposed to make them warm up much quicker, and hold the warmth in much longer.
Here in KY we are having a very mild, snowless winter. I wouldn’t mind a little snow…you can send some my way, Sasha!!
Reading about all these crazy temps is making me feel a mite gulity. It is currently 71 F in my stretch of sunny S. Florida. BUT, it was in the low 20’s a couple weeks ago, which is something of an anomaly for South Florida. β
Raine, it’s only because I know you live in a warmer climate I wasn’t sure if you were serious. I mean, if you were canadian and you said that, I’d know you were mocking. LOL But I’ve travelled to a lot of places where people didn’t believe me that it got cold enough we had to plug our cars in.
PLus, you’d never know it to look at the cars, they’re exactly like any other one, except the plug, which is hidden under the hood until we pull it out.
Melissa, If I could send some your way, I Would!
S.Desires. I’m coming to visit you!
I don’t know how ya’ll up north do it, living through minus degrees ! yuk!
Here in GA we had snow twice in one week!! A freakin’ weather Phenomenon that I, GulfCoastPrincess that I am, have never seen in all my fortymmmmph years of life! Of course my boys were outside in it all day long, while I ate. Made coffee. Ate. Fixed hot chocolate. Pretended to bake cookies but actually ate half of the raw dough. Went downstairs to say hello to the treadmill, then curled up in the papasan chair with a book.
You couldn’t drag me out in that cold for love or money. Sex with Karl or Val, but not love or money!!!
I have seen cars in Indiana (passed through) plugged in. I have seen solid ice on roofs and windows.
Think I’ll stay here down south & visit up there in the summer π
