Greece

Thanks to Matt Barrets Athens Survival Guide I’ve managed to make a sketchy outline of what I plan to do and where I plan to go while in Greece.

I arrive in Athens on June 3, and it’s immediately onto the overnight ferry to Lesvos Island. I plan to spend the first 5 days of my trip soaking up the sun and the atmosphere. Relaxing by the pool and visiting the beach.

Then on June 9th a Dear Friend of mine from Germany will be meeting me in Athens and we plan to Eat, Shop, and see the Sights.

She goes back to Germany on the 14th and I move onto Poros Island, (Thanks for mentioning the quiet one Larissa) where I will once again, relax, soak up the atmosphere and a large quantity of sunshine, along with as much fabulous eats and drinks as possible.

I plan to spend my fast day in Greece In the city of Athens, strolling around one last time before retiring to the Attalos Hotel for a good nights sleep before starting my journey back to Canada.

Of course, I realize the best-laid plans rarely work out, but for me, it always seems that the unexpected turns out to be GOOD things. So I look forward to some pleasant surprises.

  1. Oh, oh, oh! I’m so jealous! And POROS!!! What town are you staying in? We stayed in Scala (lovely beaches!) and made little day trips on moped around the island. Our ferry trip from there took us to Crete. LOVED Crete.

And did I mention that I’m jealous! *g*

Take care of yourself, and have a WONDERFUL time!!!!

Forgot to tell you this little story about Poros:

When I went, the island had just opened to tourism. They’d never seen an American, though they’d seen plenty of Brits. They gave us a lot of trouble over our military passports to the point that I didn’t think they’d let us stay on the island. It all worked out, but I sweated for a while! :O

Anyway, my story is about the airport. Since the island was so new to tourism, they really didn’t have much of one. We flew in on a fairly large plane that had to land on a dirt strip. Then a rickety old pickup came to pick up the luggage. We had to walk from the plane across the dirt "tarmac" to a covered porch thing where they processed our passports after we dug through the pickup for our luggage!

It was pretty funny. Be glad you’re taking a ferry! LOL
