I received a critique from a cp this weekend that was pretty hard core.
A lot of what she said made sense. I can use it.
But other parts just made it clear to me to me that my job, as a writer, wasn’t getting done. She felt that certain parts of my story really needed to be cut, because they didn’t move the plot forward…which is great advice…who wants pages and pages of stuff that doesn’t matter?
But this stuff does matter. The fact that she didn’t see it, means I’M not being clear. And that is the sort of advice I need. I need to know when what is in my head ISN’T getting through on paper.
Otherwise, the story is just a bunch of sex scenes strung together…who wants that? 😉
😀
(wildly waving my arm in the air)
OH OH OH.. ME.. I WANT THAT…. but then again, I am a man 😛
LMAO@Shayner
I’m glad it helped hon. You have no idea how hard it was for me to say that and I’m always afraid I’m gonna come off like a hardass/know it all/you need to do it my way CP when I don’t MEAN to.
I think the fact you can take a step back and see what I didn’t say very well  says a lot about your maturity as a writer.
Shayne~ Now I know the Down & Dirty Anthology was perfect for you! Lot’s of sex, and not much else. 😀
Cece~ Oh! I don’t know about my maturity.
I admit to being a tad dispondent at first glance. So much red! LOL But then I actually READ the crit…and it’s just what I need. 🙂
