“”Boxing plays an important role in the story, but this picture isn’t about boxing; it’s about human relationships,” Eastwood emphasizes. “And there are some things that go unspoken in the film. Just as it was with Mystic River, the audience has to participate somewhat in deciding where the story goes after the film ends.”
~ Clint Eastwood when talking about MILLION DOLLAR BABY.
This is more than a great movie, it’s a great STORY. It starts out like you’d expect any ‘underdog’ movie to, and ends as only a poignant masterpiece can.
Reviewer Michael Wilmington (of the Chicago Tribune) says MILLION DOLLAR BABY “”is a tough, pungent boxing drama with a delayed-action wallop.” He goes on to warn you…”MILLION DOLLAR BABY is a boxing drama without last-minute triumphs or wish fulfillment scenarios, a love story without sex or romance. The movie doesn’t lack redemption, but it’s not the easy kind offered by Sylvester Stallone in “Rocky” or the social uplift of Rod Serling in “Requiem for a Heavyweight.” The ending here smacks of blood and sweat – and tears too.”
I say GO SEE IT!!
