My real name is Polyhymnia, but you can call me Poly.
I’m one of the Greek Muses. Officially, the muse of sacred hymn, eloquence and dance. People say that I’m often pensive and serious but I’m here to tell you that’s not true. I admit there are times when I get that way, doesn’t everybody? Life requires a certain amount of balance, even for us Greeks.
In most pictures of me you’ll see I’ve got a long robe or cloak on, but nobody ever thought to ask what I had on Under those robes. Unfortunately, judging a book by it’s cover is a universal fuck up. It happens on Olympus as often as it happens on earth.
My sisters and fellow muses have asked me to visit you, and share what a bit of what I’m really about. So here I am, the “Feature Muse” of Behind The Muses for the rest of this month.
