Make time to create quiet space around you today and you could be surprised at what comes to the surface. You may even stumble upon a brilliant solution to something that has bothered you for a while. But don’t spend the whole day lost in meditation, for there is excess energy that needs expressing. Get out and have some fun. Strive for a balance between the inner work and the outer play.
I dearly hope this is true, as I am really sucking in the creative storytelling department right now. I’m working on ROGUE HEART, the sequel to GYPSY HEART. I’ve been struggling with getting this novella written for almost 2 months, and I am out of time. Sadly, I have only 4 pages done. My problem? I can’t figure out how to Start the damn thing. How much does that suck? Should I continue the story right where GH left off, even though GH was written 2 years ago? And should I stay true to what happened between Jake and Miranda in my mind when I wrote GH. What I thought happened never made it into the book, so technically it doesn’t have to have happened. Y’know?
So, yesterday I went to the bookstore. I spent a lot of money and picked up (among other things) my copy of Alison’s CIG that finally came in. And Iam loving it.
I think maybe I am a Complete Idiot, in a way, because honestly, I buy refrence books or manuals and I flip through them and never read them. (Except Stephen King’s On Writing) And I’ve been reading this one, and feeling the kick in the pants I need.
Love it! Highly Recommend it!!
I am motivated now. I am getting this *&^%$%^ novella done this weekend because I also have a Dec 1st deadline with Kensington for the sequel to The Devil Inside. So, I’m creating my quiet space. I have one 15k novella, and one 60k story to write this month. I’ll be posting lot’s of Pic’s excerpts and joke in the next month as I’m going into the writing cave. 🙂
But please, visit often cuz I’ll need opinions on the excerpts. I’ll post as I write. Starting tiwht tomorrow, the first scene from ROGUE HEART! (see, now I’ve promised it to you, so I HAVE to get it done.
You’re definitely busy!
Good luck with the writing!
Can I join you in your cave? You sound like you have as much to write as me. With the deadline exception. 🙄
And I love the CIG too. I’m about half way through it and it is very motivating :great: ❗
Oops, I meant without the deadline. Me, without the deadline I mean. 😳
Good luck!
Busy is good, Amanad. I tend to thrive under pressure. Not something, and while I hate that I let myself get this far without getting what I need done, I do liek that i knwo I CAN get it done. 🙂
Thanks, Larissa!
Tess, You may enter, but no talking allowed, only writing. And the occasional junk food run to the store.
Thanks May!!
Sash, did you have to order it, or did you just pick it up at Chapters-Indigo? It’s on my to-buy list.
Oh, and good luck! If you want to knock heads, zip me an email. 🙂
Jaq- They didn’t have it at the Chapters stores I went to in Edmonton so I went to St.Albert. (15 minnute drive) And they had one copy so I grabbed it.
You can check online at chapters. I used the store location feature, and it tells you how many they have in stock so you can call and get them to hold it.
ANd be prepared, you just might get an email LOL
Holy crap you have a lot to do.
Nice to know I’m not the only one slammed with deadlines. If it makes you feel better I have to rewrite the entire back half of a 100K book, a single title and a novella by Feb 1st.
*sigh*.
Hi Sasha! Received my personal AUTOGRAPHED copy of the The Cop! today….woohoo!!!! Thank you!!! So can I tell you to stop having fun on your website and get back to work so I can have more stuff to read w/o making you mad? Keep up the great work!!! Thanks!
Jcai, Feel free to join me in the cave. I also have a ST (not started at all yet) due for Berkley for Feb. So I’ll be in the cave a while. LOL I tend to go in spurts.
In fact, I think winter in Alberta is the perfect time to hibernate and write write write. Too cold to do much else. (Okay, so I liek to also go to the hockey games, but thats it!)
Liz! Glad you got it, and yes, feel free to tell me to get back inthe cave LOL
I’m going …right now..
Get your buns in gear, lady. 😎
Hi Sasha
Thanks so much for the kind comment you left on my blog. I’m feeling better about everything now… 🙂
You have a heavy writing schedule ahead of you, but I’ve got every confidence that you’ll meet your goals and end up smiling!
love

Go, Sasha. You can do it!
