Okay, Sorry I’ve been pretty much MIA for a while. I finished WICKED and SEXY DEVILS, and went back to work ~ and during it all I had a hellish head cold and the flu.
But, I also managed to go to my very first Kink event. As in, it was like a writers confernce but it was BDSM focused. I took seminars on military scenes, BDSM and the law, and my fave, Degrees of Power, Degrees of Freedom. It was awesome stuff.
I admit it, I was a bit nervous to go, especially by myself, but I’m brave. And it was well worth it. I met some amazingly open and helpful people. I learned a lot, and saw a lot! Yup, there was a play party on Sat and Sunday night, I went to the one on Sat night and got my first real good look at a Dungeon full of people doing their thing. (Not having sex, but things like spanking, flogging, ropes, or sensation play.)
And yes, I dipped my toe in too. *blush* Some people might say I jumped in, but I don’t think of it that way. LOL All I did was let someone tie me up. I really wanted to experience the whole rope Shibari thing! And I had met the couple I let do it before, so I felt safe.
It was… interesting. I haven’t really had a lot of time to go over it in my mind yet.. but I do know I learned one thing about my own views of D/s and such that weekend. For Me, it’s all about the sexual aspect of things. Which makes sense when you read my stories, the D/s play is all centered around bedroom antics/lust/desires and needs. But clearly, that is not all there is to BDSM, and it’s not that way for everyone.
I’ll write more about this stuff later, like I said, I haven’t really had a chance to think about all I saw/learned when I was there because of everything else going on. But I had to at least tell you all that I did it. I finally got to be tied up!!
It sounds fabulous!
Congrats on getting past your nervousness and enjoying the conference/weekend.
I hope you’re feeling better!
wow sounds like u had a great time n blast too. would u do it again if u got the chance to? :great:
Janet. Not sure. LOl It was good experience for sure, to help with my writing and such. But I think the only way I’d get really into it is if I found a man like Karl – the hero in my WIP who is a Dom. :inlove:
Hehe. Man you are my hero and brave to boot! :great:
Woo hoo Sasha!
It is an exciting experience. Here in Seattle people do have sex at the club right out in the open. I know a lot of clubs don’t allow that.
I think it is an amazing energy to add to public D/s play. For me too, BDSM is all about sex.

WHAT SHE CRAVES, Available now from Kensington Aphrodisia.
Hey Lacy,
Think of about 3/4 the size of the room where the RWA signign was in. Half of it was Dungeon, half was seating to watch and eat and drink.
I think because this wasn’t a CLUB. IT was in a hotel Conference room.
There are no clubs in my city. And I think the hotel made the “no sex’ rule since it was sort of a swanky hotel. LOL
