I’m a Scorpio through and through. I can be your best friend, or your worst enemy.
Today, I am one ladies worst enemy. Why? Because she upset my Mom.
A little background: My Mom is a {{popup plates.jpg plates 540×405}}glass artisan. She works out of her basement, and makes traditional, slumped, fused stained glass objects as well as hand made beaded jewelry. She works full time in a Home Depot and does trade shows and craft fairs on the weekends. When she can’t make it, or is working one that is particularly busy, I help her. At one such show about a month ago, a little old lady bought a hand crafted {{popup bracelets.jpg bracelets 500×375}}beaded braceletfor $30cdn. (A very good price as most are sold at $45 U.S or more.) I was the one that sold it to her. She was very nice, and her hands shook so bad she asked me to write the cheque and she would just sign it.
About 2 weeks later my mom phoned me up and said that this little old lady’s daughter had called her (I put a business card in the bag for her) and said HER Mom had dropped the bracelet when trying to put it on, and stepped on it and broken it. My Mom, thinking it would be good business and word of mouth said that she would fix/replace the broken bead, (at no charge) but it wouldn’t be for a while because she had shows booked almost until Christmas, and they lived in the next town over.
Today my mom phoned me, upset, and said that this Woman had called and left a nasty message on her answering machine saying, “How dare you take so long to come and fix this” and that she was putting a stop payment on the check. Of course, my mom is upset, this upsets me.
I will be the one to phone this lady back and deal with this situation from now on, not my Mom. My Mom would prefer to just leave it be. I won’t. This lady was very rude, and what she said was uncalled for, and unnecessary. I was the one that sold the bracelet, and I believe that the lady has no right to leave a nasty message (I heard it) in such a cowardly fashion when My mother was going to fix something that wasn’t her fault, at no charge. I am angry, but will be professional, and very firm in why she is dealing with me.
1) This woman made no effort to bring the bracelet to us to be fixed, (as she would with a store)
2) Threatening and nasty will not get you what you want.
3) Cowardly messages on an answering machine will not get you what you want.
4) There was no guarantee on anything; we were going to fix it as a courtesy. Good business.
5) She was told it would take some time, it is the holiday season, and busy.
And if she gets nasty with me..she will be sorry. :plain:
I love my Mom. 🙂
You go get em, girl! Working with the public does give you that extra edge in getting your point across – I’ve learned a lot about the art of complaining from my retail days – the do’s and don’t’s.
Did I mention that Nick, from DWD, is a Scorpio? You two should understand each other very well. 🙂
I actually noticed that about Nick when I was reading. 😉
Watch out for the "wrath of Sasha!" LOL
Your poor Mom!!! :O That totally sucks. I can’t believe this woman even called in the first place.
Good for you for sticking up for your Mom!! I think that’s awesome. 🙂
Sic ’em! Grrrr!
Good for you Sasha! Some people are so rude when they think they can get away with it (Like in a phone message) but when confronted they take on a different attitude. I’d be the same way if it were me.
I hate people like that!!! It’s such a selfish attitude. You get ’em, girl! And let us know what happens!
Grrrr….. I can’t stand people like that.
I’m with you. I kick butt when people mess with my mom. Or anyone I love, for that matter. I can’t take up for myself at all, but mess with my mom and it ain’t pretty.
 I don’t blame you one bit, Sasha. I would do the same thing if I were in your shoes. I’ve worked in customer service (retail blah!) for awhile now & I can put up with a little crap from rude people by just blowing them off but if someone would mess with my mom, I would do the same thing!
