Last week I blogged about the upcoming Valentines Day with a post called It’s Started. And some people took it wrongly, as in I feel all lonely and depressed on V-Day. (Which isn’t true) But I freely admit I am not a fan of the “holiday”. So imagine how thrilled I was when I saw this post over at Southern Fried Chicas.
Go read it. Amie says it much better than I did.
So uhmm yeah… Take that V-Day!:fight:
Awww. But I like chocolate and flowers! You don’t have to be a couple to celebrate romance, y’know. That said, the over-emphasis on holidays makes me understand why Quakers don’t celebrate them at all. Every day you’re alive is special. And too much pressure on a day can really backfire.
I blogged about this too Sasha! I think V Day is kinda bogus. 🙄
I’m all for getting rid of this stupid day!! I love chocolate and pampering and wonderful dinners. I treat myself to all this and more all the time! I don’t need a day for the gods of advertising to tell me it’s okay to be “special” and to be treated as such. WTF? I just bought myself luscious bath products from Lush last week and need to hit up La Maison du chocolat here in NYC for some truffles! : ) And V-day activities is not on ANY of my lists.
It’s all about the boycott, baby!!!!
Exactly! I indulge myself every now and then because everyone should. And to me, a romantic gesture would be getting choclates or flowers, or little love notes on a regular day…just becasue that person wanted to give them to me – not because it’s a “day” they’re supposed to. 🙂
