I admit it. I haven’t written anything new in over a week, maybe two. How bad is it that I actually lost count of when I last wrote something new?
My “career plan” is now officially put on hold. I’m sorry to say that means WILLING, the continuation of Katie and Joe’s story is now on hold. This was to be the novel that was the one I was finally going to submit to a NY publisher (I’ve never submitted anythign to one). But you know what? I’ve been thinking about it being “the big one” for so long, it’s not fun anymore. I couldn’t even wirte the partial (that’s three chapters for you non-writers). I stalled after the first 10 pages!!
And I just realized why.:o
I’m bored. I’m bored with my writing, I’m bored with work, I’m bored with my cat, with TV, with going to the gym.
What do you do when you need to change things up in your life? How often do you feel this need to shake things up? I’ve come to expect this restless itchy feet feeling in my life. I have no idea why, but it happens often. Normally I’d pack my backpack and go on a trip.
Travelling always makes me feel better and reminds me of what I love about life. But…this time…because I need an instant fix, and I have a week off in July, for now, I’m just going to re-read some of my Stephanie PLum novels, I’m going to go see Star Wars, and I’m going to keep working out. Hell, I may even go out on a man hunt…errr.. I mean go play pool!
Then I’m going to let my imagination go wild, and write a very FUN dirty story. One that might never even see the light of day! But it’ll be FUN….and dirty!!!
That always rejuvinates me. π
You sound as restless as I’ve been lately!
Me three! I’ve been SO restless. I think it might be the sunny weather. I just want to get out and do stuff.
Good luck with the rejuvenation, Sasha!
I wish we could all take a trip and get rejuvenated!!! You know, like to the Bahamas, where there are cabana boys and WARM sunny days …
:confused:lol me 4! Maybe it is spring? Or that my online boyfriend is missing? Or that writing contest that I was going to enter? OR OR…why don’t you take up golf Sasha, lots of hot guys play golf and it will get you outdoors. π
I think you hit a real key with taking on a project that excites you. That makes you want to pick up and run with it. What I do, though, is plod through and usually after I get going I start to enjoy myself again and get to the good parts. π It gets hard when you rewrite something a couple of times, too. That has taken a lot for me to get my energy up and running! And taking a nap always works, too. π
When bored or ‘blocked’ I like to run away for a weekend romp. I like to pick smaller cities, come up with this weird persona, and just go. Pretending to be someone else, especially a character you’ve created, can be so much fun and so inspiring. It gets the creative juices flowing without having to put pen to paper (or finger to keys….hehehehe, I said ‘finger’). It’s like creating an all new character, and then living it. I love to hang out with a friend (or even solo) at fancy restaurants, or pool halls and just people watch. Gather material. Play a role, and maybe even have a little ‘dirty’ fun myself. Sad I get more play when I pretend to be someone other than myself…hehehe.
The last time I felt like that, I didn’t write anything for 5 months. And the worst part was that I began liking not writing, not worrying about characters, etc.
